How to get that stylish "librarian look"

As I am fond of reminding others not involved in the library profession: we are not all hobbits with cat obsessions.
Thanks to Anthropologie, one can obtain the stylish librarian's wardrobe featured in their new catalog in a section called "From the Archives."

  1. my gf and I go into Anthropologie all the time, but we can't afford $49.99 for one top or skirt "on sale." we shop for clearance knick-knacks (like Russian nested doll measuring cups that unfortunately have no flat end to keep the cup from tipping) and look at the cool books like "Manners can be fun," which I grew up reading. (I should take that back; we can afford it, but have real limits on what we spend on clothes.)

  2. Yeah, the few clothing items I have from there are all sale items. What I really covet are the shoes, but since I can't justify paying $80 for a shirt, there's little chance I can convince myself to shell out $300 for platform sandals to stumble about it.
I like the little books and stationary items in the clearance section too. I habitually buy notebooks but forget to write in them.

  3. If only a librarians salary would allow me to shop there more. I, too, am a sale item gal. I love buying small house warming/wedding shower gifts there. Did you see "The Little Prince" popup book they had a month or so back? Adorable!

  4. No, I missed that one, but I do occasionally find nice baby or wedding shower presents. I bought an adorable and retro-ey sugar bowl there for a friend and had a hard time later convincing myself to give it to them since I wanted it too.
